Six Singapore satellites were successfully launched into space from India using the Indian Space Research Organisation's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle.  The satellites will gather data from around the equator, including information that will help monitor haze and other disasters in Singapore and the Southeast Asian region.  The satellites, of varying shapes and sizes, were made by the Nanyang Technological University, the National University of Singapore and ST Electronics and are considered the first commercial satellites made in Singapore.
